Itinerary


Day 1:
PORT MORESBY
Arrive Port Moresby from you international flight, Pick up from the airport and transfer to your hotel.
Meet the rest of the team and overnight in Port Moresby.

Day 2:
MT. HAGEN - WII VILLAGE
Catch the morning flight from Port Moresby to Mt Hagen, followed by a 2.5-hour transfer to Wii Village through scenic Waghi Valley, with views of huts, plantations, and gardens. After check-in and lunch, enjoy traditional performances by the Wii Towai tribes, a river hike, and a waterfall swim for those who can brave the cold. This off-the-beaten-path tour offers a full day of unique activities with the Wii Towai Waterfall Tribe.

Day 3:
MINDIMA – GOROKA
After breakfast, we depart for the Skeleton Tribes village to watch the Ash Kondai Paia dancers and Insect Hunters, breaking for lunch before a final performance by the Skeleton dancers. Then, we take a 2-hour drive to the Asaro Valley, home of the famous Mudmen, where guests will check in and settle into the lodge.

Day 4:
GOROKA SHOW
After an early breakfast, guests head to the festival grounds with packed lunches for the day. Following the festival, return to the lodge for Mudmen and Mokomoko dance performances. A hike to the holy cross provides views of Asaro Valley and Goroka, with an optional visit to observe the widows' mourning rituals.

Day 5:
GOROKA SHOW
After breakfast, we head to the festival grounds for a final day of activities. Returning from the festival, our hosts prepare a traditional mumu feast. While it cooks, explore the village, river, coffee plantations, or local market. In the afternoon, relax and enjoy Asaro village life, then return to the lodge for performances by the mini mudmen, Arunumuna women, and the burning heads. The evening concludes with a mumu dinner.

Day 6:
GOROKA – MT HAGEN
After breakfast we say farewell to our hosts and board the bus for the ride back to Mt Hagen. In Mt Hagen, you check into your hotel and afternoon is spent at the Kamdika waterfall in Harvi village, enjoy a swim in the waterfall before returning to the hotel. Dinner and Overnight in Mt Hagen

Day 7:
MT HAGEN – PORT MORESBY
Depart Mt Hagen for Port Moresby on the morning flight, upon arrival in Port Moresby you will be picked up to your hotel in Port Moresby. We take a tour of the 17Mile park to see the Birds of Paradise, Crocodiles and tree kangaroo, we continue to the National Museum and Art Gallery and the National Parliament. Return to the hotel to overnight. Overnight at the Crown Hotel

Day 8:
END OF ADVENTURE
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight on to your next destination.

How do I fly to
Papua New Guinea?
You can reach Papua New Guinea by flying into Port Moresby, the main international gateway. Direct flights are available from Australia (Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney), Singapore, the Philippines, and some Pacific islands. We will support you to find the find best possible option and assist you in this way.

Do I need to bring cash?
Cash is preferred in most places, so it’s wise to carry cash. ATMs can be sparse, particularly in rural areas, but are available in bigger cities.

How do I book the domestic flight?
At Crazy Puffin, we’ll handle purchasing domestic flights for you. You simply cover the cost, as they’re not included in the final price. This way, we ensure all flights align smoothly with your itinerary for a hassle-free experience.

Can I come as a solo traveler
That’s absolutely not a problem! You will be paired with another like-minded solo traveler and share the room with him/her. Or you can get a single supplement for an additional fee. With single supplement you will get your own room.
